The Catskills excels in producing world-class maple syrup, and this is the time of year when the sugar houses throw open their doors to the public and provide tours and tastings, while the sap is being boiled in their evaporators. So come up, grab a rental house, check out the sugar house, and have a great weekend Upstate. We'll even throw in a 20% discount on a rental in Sullivan County if you book and stay before the end of March. Just use CODE: MAPLE20 when you book online or call in your reservation.
We're delighted to recommend our neighbors at Catskill Mountain Sugar House, the only organic producer in Sullivan County, for their sugar house tour, from 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday, March 21 & 22, or, if you have a bit more time, a hike or more likely, a snow shoe, through the trails on the 800-acre maple farm, with Lisa Lyons, of Morgan Outdoors in Livingston Manor.
Participants in the hike will meet at the Catskill Mountain Sugar House at 2:00pm, to witness tree tapping and sap boiling in their cutting-edge facility (which happens to include some incredibly scenic acreage).
Here is a link to the Maple Syrup Directory, which includes a list of producers, many of whom will likely have open houses.
