Sol Invictus: Interregnum
Green Kill, announces Sol Invictus: Interregnum, a multi discipline art exhibition, opening December 9, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm. The show runs until January 27th , 2018.
For the 2nd year, curators Brent Felker of Gemini Hill and artist, Michelle Tommasi present Sol Invictus at Green Kill with this year's theme "Interregnum. The multidisciplinary exhibit includes work of emerging and established New York artists. The show brings together innovative art forms and includes sculpture, digital art, video projections, performance, photography, paintings, drawing and works on paper. Artists include: Lori Nelson (Hudson Valley), Archil Pichkhadze (Hudson Valley), Jada Fabrizio (New York City), Norm Magnusson (Hudson Valley), Brent Felker (NYC/Hudson Valley), Marissa Sher (NYC), Sharon Ascher (NYC), Ken Habarta (NYC), Michelle Tommasi (Hudson Valley), Steve Butcher (NYC), Simona Prives (NYC), Hisayasu Takashio (NYC) and Christa Toole (NYC). There will be spoken word by poet Cory Nakasue of Kingston Writers' Studio and a dance performance by Charlotte Gibbons Dance Company entitled "The Charm of Impossibilities".
About the show’s theme: Sol Invictus: Interregnum
Sol Invictus, The Unconquered Sun. The Winter solstice is a time to reflect on the darkness and celebrate the return of the sun, with longer days ahead and the rebirth of nature. Celebrations have been common throughout cultures and history with feasts, festivals and holidays around the December solstice. Sol Invictus is a Roman sun god from the 3rd century whose birthday was celebrated on or about December 25th.
Green Kill is an art and performance space now in its second year, located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, on Green Kill Avenue, near the Route 32 intersection.
