  • 14 Darbee Lane Liberty NY

Make your memories last a lifetime. Bethel Woods invites teens 14 to 18 to a FREE Found Object Art and Collage Workshop on Saturday, July 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with artist Marc Switko. The event, which is part of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Project Identity: Sessions, will be held at Downtown Barn, 14 Darbee Lane, in Liberty, NY.

Participants are encouraged to bring a few small objects or trinkets that have special meaning to them; a selection of objects will also be provided. Teens will create a keepsake of favorite memories using the objects.

This fun day of visual art creation includes a show-and-tell of objects brought by participants, learning collage techniques and creation of original artwork. The day concludes with a group show.

Marc Switko, fascinated with pop culture as a child, studied music, wrote, read comic books and skateboarded. Before attending Cornell University to study nutritional sciences he already performed and wrote as a member of numerous rock and roll bands at dive bars throughout Sullivan and Ulster counties.

Switko then moved to Albany, NY and began publishing reviews as the book critic for a successful literary magazine, The Albany Review, under the direction of Editor-in-Chief Theodore Bouloukos II. It was here he got his chops as a professional writer. The Review eventually folded and Switko left for New York City. There he began writing professionally for the Art publications of Far East under the editorial tutelage of Dian Hanson, now editor for art book publisher Taschen, based in Cologne, Germany.
