Above are photos of The Homestead Cottage, which is 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and which is available on its own during winter months, or as part of the larger house rental during the rest of the year.
The Homestead Cottage is a comfortable, self-contained, lakefront home that in summer is a part of the rental of the sprawling, 14 bedroom home (See The Homestead). But in the off-season, when the Main House closes, The Cottage at The Homestead, with its 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, is available on its own. Ice-fishing enthusiasts will find this a front-and-center location, and just walking distance to local restaurants, its a great home base for some quality R&R, with amenities nearby.
The northern area along White Lake, the deepest lake in Sullivan County, is called Kauneonga Lake, and The Homestead Cottage is perched right on its shores, flanked by wraparound decks. Expansive lawns provide ample room for games, and that added bit of privacy.
The Cottage has a cozy feel, with its floral prints and country style. Deep, comfortable seating in the living room, which has two large bay windows looking out onto the deck, is arranged near the wood stove, creating an appealing spot yearround.
The kitchen has a center island with breakfast bar, and the usual appliances. A separate dining room faces the front of the building, which enjoys wonderful sunlight at breakfast time. The three bedrooms are upstairs, with a king bed in the master, which has a private bathroom with a shower. The other two bedrooms (two twins and a queen), share a bathroom that has a tub/shower.
The Cottage, which is about 1,800 square feet, is available on its own when the Main House closes during the winter. See Rates & Availability below for more details.
The hamlet of Kauneonga Lake, a three minute walk from the house, buzzes most of the year with restaurants, a bakery and a couple of shops, although hours change and some do close in the dead of winter. A short drive will take you to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which is the jewel in the crown of Sullivan County, boasting an impressive concert line-up in summer, and several fairs and festivals during the autumn. The Museum at Bethel Woods pays homage to the Woodstock Concert of 1969 that took place on the grounds there.
