Reasons to Rent: Waking up to the sunrise from your comfy bed on the Airstream. Enjoying the large fire pit under the star-filled sky and absolute peace and quiet in a remote setting.
You've always admired the retro styling of Airstream trailers and have dreamed of setting off to some peaceful, remote spot to completely disconnect from your chaotic life. Well here is your chance! Tucked onto a hilltop surrounded by 1,000 acres, The Perch is off-the-grid, primarily using solar, and could be categorized as glamping (glamorous camping), combining the restorative, communing-with-nature, outdoor experience and cool sleeping environment, with hot water, full kitchen, digital TV and cell service.
Laid-out like a meticulously-designed small boat, the bedroom in the Airstream features a comfortable queen size bed with windows (and shades) all around. There is even a small TV. The compact bathroom includes a shower (there is an outdoor shower off the back, too) with plenty of hot water, while the kitchen and accoutrements have been organized in such a clever fashion that you will marvel. Even the dining table and surrounding leather banquette (where there is also a second TV) convert handily to another bed (king). Though this property closes in winter (at over 1 mile, the driveway is too long to plow), there is heat in the Airstream for comfort during chilly evenings, and air conditioning in summer. Wake to the sunrise and the most pristine peace and quiet, and watch the fog in the valley slowly burn off.
But wait, there's more! The original plan was to add a small screened platform, but now witness the really quite fabulous Pavilion! This fully-enclosed outbuilding has a wall of casement windows, echoing the feeling of a screened porch or sunroom, which includes a comfy lounge, dining table, breakfast bar, terrific kitchen, and delightful full bathroom with shower. And if your disconnecting from civilization does not mean missing the big game, grab the remote, there's a TV. The building also includes heat and air conditioning.
The property is about ten miles from the highway, and after passing through the farm gate, your cares will fall away during the 1.5 mile journey to the site. You'll be aware of the absence of all sounds but perhaps the wind, and certainly the chirping birds. The clearing affords a view across to a completely forested ridgeline which meets a huge expanse of open sky. The sun rises over that ridge, and bathes the property in a warm, pinkish light. Even if you're not an early riser, you may be tempted to head out and grab a seat and be present for the start of the day.
It's pretty much a given that you and your peep(s) will want to hang at the mega fire pit under the stars. This is where people converse, where they connect. It's where your daily routine has not just been broken, it's been obliterated. It's what you'll remember when you think back on this vacation.
This outstanding property is adjacent to the Neversink Unique Area (aka Neversink Gorge) an exceptional 6,500 acre preserve owned by New York State that features the Neversink River and surrounding lands. What makes this so cool, is that access to the river generally requires a 1.5 mile hike in, to reach this utterly unspoiled waterway, with its notable trout fishing pools, hiking trails and its memorable beauty. A trail on the property connects with the trail system in The Gorge.
