Lighthouse

Yulan, New York

The owners of the Lighthouse are creative people and value time at their sun-drenched home as a kind of artistic retreat, ideal for recharging batteries and stimulating the senses. Guests will find this house appealing if the goal is to spend quality time cooking or barbecuing, reading and winding down in front of the fire or out on the hammock, or pursuing outdoor activities available within walking distance, or just a short drive from the property.

The house is divided into public and private space, starting with an open plan area with living room, dining area and kitchen with breakfast bar. A spacious deck is just beyond the sliding glass doors. And the bedrooms and bathrooms are situated down along a corridor. Upstairs a small loft provides a perch with rocking chair, bookcases filled  with design books, and a games table.

Outside, the deck is a draw from morning to night. The house is set back a decent distance from what is nearly the end of a dead end road, so it enjoys a good deal of privacy. Blueberries grow in the backyard toward the end of summer, ready to be tossed in morning pancakes or on ice cream at the end of an activity-filled summer’s day.

Perhaps one of the primary draws to this property is deeded access to swimmable Lake Bodine just down the road, where rowboats are also available for your use.
