The four bedrooms are upstairs off a central landing. Two feature queen beds (each could be considered the master), there is a full bedroom, and a smaller bedroom with one twin. Upstairs the bathroom includes a tub/shower.

The Neversink River, home to spritely native brook trout, runs through the expansive property, and barring a drought, has a swimming hole that is sure to refresh. You will be drawn to it if for no other reason than to watch the changing light on the tumbling waters.

Next door up the road a bit (walking distance, but not too close), Halls Mills is another Red Cottage rental on the same estate, which sleeps 8. So larger groups or two families who would like to vacation together can find accommodation for 15 people max between them.

Reasons to rent: The Neversink River is just a stone’s throw from the house, on the property. The sound of farm animals in the distance are a great substitute for honking horns.
