Reasons to rent: The Neversink River is just a stone’s throw from the house, on the property. The sound of farm animals in the distance is a great substitute for honking horns.
Having been recently refurbished, White House is a bright new take on an historic 1840s home. As part of a large estate, which encompasses a working organic farm, this home is a great base for exploring the unspoiled area, or for creating memories on the grounds at home.
Downstairs, the home features a generous living room with gas stove, and a spacious country kitchen that opens to the dining area. There is a full bathroom (with walk-in shower) on this level.
The four bedrooms are upstairs off a central landing. Two feature queen beds (each could be considered the master), there is a full bedroom, and a smaller bedroom with one twin. Upstairs the bathroom includes a tub/shower.
The Neversink River, home to spritely native brook trout, runs through the expansive property, and barring a drought, has a swimming hole that is sure to refresh. You will be drawn to it if for no other reason than to watch the changing light on the tumbling waters.
In 2010, a local couple launched Neversink Farm, an organic farm producing vegetables, honey, a huge swath of cut flowers, and chickens in the fields behind the barn. Please note: renters are not permitted to wander the farm (for liability and safety reasons).
